DAVID by JULIE ROSENCRANS

I followed Steve Plummer’s tiger art tutorial on the WoollyThoughts.com website to learn how to make a chart for a more advanced illusion pattern. I figured out a way to use Excel to make the pattern instead of using Inkscape. I tried Inkscape but the learning curve was too big and after a bit I figured, “hey, I think I can do this in Excel.” It’s tedious either way. I chart 10 ridges and then knit 10 ridges to keep it manageable.

I used Steve’s ingenious method to create my own illusion pattern for the bust of the Statue of David. The charting was tedious but the knitting was a breeze. It was so fun to watch the image appear. There are a few places I’d make changes but overall it works.
